Position Purpose:
Functions effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the requirements of quality patient care. Responsible for the evaluation, program development and treatment of patients admitted to the unit. Reviews physician’s referral and assesses patient’s condition, i.e. strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, as well as their medical records to determine appropriate treatment programmes required. Tests and measures all physical, functional and cognitive problems. Prescribes and orders relevant assistive devices, where applicable. Educates patients (and their families) about the patient’s condition. Actively participates in continuing professional development activities and builds relationships with referring doctors and therapists.

Client service delivery and quality
- Follow procedures and cooperate with peers and leader for the best possible service delivery.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Defined legal, statutory, and regulatory compliance is maintained at the required standards. Operational risk and governance structures, measures, and frameworks are complied with, and necessary action is taken to address issues when necessary.
Financial Management
- Contribute to cost savings within the department to assist with financial goals and targets.
Operating Model
- Meet delivery objectives through working with other team members within and linked to the department/project.
- Resolve operational performance variations and problems and escalate unresolved issues to higher levels.
- Ensure delivery targets/objectives are met and operate in a supportive manner to achieve successful delivery.
- Provide appropriate and impactful telephonic and written counseling, education, and support to allocated clients with high-risk or long-term illnesses, thereby reducing hospital admissions and risk factors.
- Complete required administration and case information on assigned cases to standard and within a deadline.
- Handle and resolve medical and claim-related fund queries.
- Identify high-risk patients and clients and, when appropriate, refer to alternative professionals for additional support (such as social workers).

- Keep up to date with operational changes implemented in response to important external influences.
- Deliver in a manner that supports and meets operational quality standards and meets the defined departmental priorities.
- Perform according to defined operational best practice and identify and implement opportunities for continuous delivery improvement.

- Deliver personal performance within Human Capital frameworks and policies to ensure delivery to agreed standards and objectives.

Stakeholder Management
- Ensure appropriate, active, and informative relationships with customers and relevant stakeholders are successfully achieved.
- Address customer or stakeholder complaints in alignment with the policies and procedures and ensuring customer/stakeholder buy-in.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 (Essential)
- 2 years post-graduation experience.
- BSc. Physiotherapy. RFA Therapist training (advantageous).
Qualities and Skills:
- Computer Literacy: Advanced proficiency in computer literacy and applications.
- Knowledge: Knowledge and application of relevant legislation, Application of financial and risk assessment methodology, Knowledge of scheme rules and contractual negotiations.
- Technical: Microsoft Suite, using technology comfortably, channel experience.
